Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are some of the most frequently asked questions posed to us at Northwest Closets. If you have more questions please fill out our contact form, and we would love to assist you.

Q: Why is a wood-based product better than these wire systems I see in the Home Centers?
First, "wood" can be misleading. Melamine products are technically wood products that consist of a particleboard substrate (underneath) with a hard surface (melamine) covering that comes in various colors and wood tones. However, there are various grades of melamine products that come in various thicknesses, as well as durability. Wire systems are just that, quarter-inch diameter, painted, steel wire. These systems are fastened through the drywall with "spreader" type fasteners. The upside is price:they're cheap. The downside is quality: they're cheap. They are also cheap looking, and hardly measure up to the definition of a "custom" closet. Wire systems are not very durable; they will fail if overloaded. Back To Top

Q: How long does it take to install?
Typical installations take place in a matter of hours. Large, multi-room jobs are usually completed in 1-2 days. Back To Top

Q: What's a "ballpark" cost for a typical closet?
There are too many variables to give a decent "ballpark" quote. Size of room, number and type of units, color/woodtone choice and accessories all influence the cost. Back To Top

Q: Do you accept major credit cards?
Yes, all major credit cards. Back To Top

Q: What is your warranty?
Five years for normal wear and tear on parts, and installation. Back To Top

Q: What is the best way to keep my organizing system clean?
Plain old damp cloth, followed with dry cloth. There is no need to use a furniture polish or solvent as Melamine has no absorptive qualities.

Q: What does "modular" mean?
Modular refers to the way the units fit together. If you look at the overall system it's actually broken down into separate units that are connected. Modular allows for adapting the units, if necessary, when your needs change. For instance it's relatively easy to convert a shelving unit to a hanging unit and vice-versa. Back To Top

Q: Can I install your system by myself?
Not at this time. Because our system is fairly simple to install, we're considering a DIY version—same quality. The questions to ask in any do it yourself project is:How much is my time worth? Do I have the skills to do it? Do I have the right tools? Am I confident in my measuring skills and keen enough to accommodate problems areas (obstructions, switches, outlets, vents, dropped ceilings, etc.)? Back To Top

Q: Suppose I get a lower competitive quote?
Show us the quote to make sure they are truly competitive in respect to product quality, design, color/woodtone, etc. We will meet, or beat any legitimate competitive quote. Back To Top

Q: Do you provide references?
Yes. We've installed hundreds of jobs for retail customers and major custom builders. We'll even try to provide references that are in your neighborhood or close by. Back To Top

Q: Do you use sub-contractors for installations?
No. Our installers are family members or close associates. Back To Top

Q: Do you make evening appointments?
We realize that work schedules vary for our customers and try to accommodate this. However, we also work everyday and have family obligations. In cases where appointments prove difficult, we do occasional Saturday appointments. Back To Top
